The Slow-Cooked Sentence

Time warp

If I could live at a different time in history, I would choose to watch the universe give birth to itself. I would like to see stars explode, spewing hot gases and dust into a dark, cold space. I would like to watch great swirling clouds of gases cool and glom and wring themselves of water. I would like to see particles of dust congeal into solid ground that I would one day stand upon, and I would like to be blinded by the shafts of light and warmth from the first rays of our sun.

Particles of stardust reside in my body, in my children’s body, and in yours. In our dark flesh, we carry the glitter and gas that marked the dawn of time, when the universe heaved and shook with infinite possibility.
